About Golden Hour Weddings

Hi. I'm Melissa Golden and I took these pictures.
By day, I'm a sassy photojournalist whose work has been seen in TIME magazine, Newsweek, the New York Times and the Washington Post among other publications. I love my day job so much that I moonlight as a photographer too. I get to tell stories with my pictures, and weddings are just about the happiest stories there are. Bearing witness to true love and documenting it for posterity is a pretty special job and I feel quite privileged when I'm asked to do it.

The name “Golden Hour Weddings” came about because it represents some of my favorite things about the wonder that is photography. When the sun rises and sets, everything glows in vibrant shades of yellow, red, orange and pink. In photography, this twice-daily light show is known as the golden hour and it makes everything and everyone look good. The golden hour is my favorite time of day- and not just because I share the name.

Beautiful light, beautiful moments and a lot of love come together at weddings to create the ideal conditions for the best kinds of pictures. They're the kind of pictures that when you look at your album twenty or even fifty years down the line, you’re going to remember and smile. They're the kind of pictures this golden hour photographer lives to take.
